In these unprecedented times, international collaboration is essential to facilitate the sharing and use of digital health tools and best practices to support countries’ responses to the pandemic and prepare us for the post-pandemic phase as well as future emergency response needs. The objective of the information in this document is to facilitate countries’ digital health emergency responses with proposed actions and implementation resources/recommendations for countries to consider as part of their emergency response lifecycle.
This work was initially developed based on contributions from (in alphabetic order) Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Global Fund, Hong Kong, India, Italy, ITU, Japan, The Netherlands, OECD, Poland, Portugal, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, Turkey, UAE, Uruguay, UNICEF, United Kingdom, United States of America and WHO. The data collection was collated by Colleen Brooks and Dr Mona AlMehaid, Saudi G20 Digital Health Secretariat, with draft actions and implementation resources /recommendations. The actions and implementation resources/recommendations were validated and updated by the G20 Digital Health Taskforce and subject matter experts over 7 meetings since September 1, 2020 to November 2, 2020. A review by Global Digital Health Partnership and G20 Health Working group members was also undertaken. The taskforce included representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Global Digital Health
In response to the gaps identified in the G20 2020 Digital Health Taskforce's report, the Saudi G20 Digital Health Secretariat introduced a pivotal addendum, focusing on enhancing digital health strategies in pandemic management. This approach, vital in the era of COVID-19, emphasizes integrating digital health technologies with existing healthcare infrastructures. It represents a significant step towards a globally integrated digital healthcare system.
